Is drinking enough water getting boring? Jazz it up! Make your own vitamin water with fruit and herbs.
I’m not a fan store bought flavored water. I want my water to taste refreshing without all the sugar and chemicals so I was very excited when I found this photo and idea on a friend’s Facebook page for making your own true vitamin water. (This was originally posted by A Life in Balance.) Why didn’t I think of that?
When I saw this I had to tell all the teen athletes I work with about it. This a great alternative to Gatorade and poweraid type of drinks. This is an excellent drink for staying hydrated while you are working out. Even better use coconut water to make these recipes to take them to the next level.
This is so easy to do. Grab some Mason jars, fruit, herbs and water and you have everything you need to “brew” these magical infusions. Just thinly slice the fruits into manageable portions and place in jar with sprigs of fresh herbs. Cover with water or coconut water. Refrigerate (anywhere from 2 hours to overnight—the longer it sits, the more intense the flavor will be). Then Pour over ice, garnish with a slice of fruit or a sprig of herbs, and enjoy! You can also pour the water into your to go bottle and take it with you when you are on the run. What’s really cool is that you can refilled the jar 3 times and each time the water was pleasantly infused. After 3 refills, you can ‘recycle” the sliced fruit into your green smoothies in the morning.
